In the recent years, multicomponent condensation reactions was discovered to be a powerful method for the synthesis of organic compounds, since the products have been produced in a single step, and the diversity can be achieved by simply varying each component, As an example, The 3,4-dihydropyrimidin- 2(1H)-ones-thiones (DHPMs) are known to exhibit a wide range of biological activities such as antitumour, antiviral, anti-inflammatory actions and antibacterial. Therefore, this heterocyclic nucleus has gained a great importance and several  modified procedures of the original Biginelli protocol.
